what was Dudley Council looking for?
A partner to help improve its 23,000 properties by delivering a combined cyclical interior and exterior painting programme. The work consists of painting a variety of homes, including high rise, low rise and sheltered accommodation schemes, and assisting the directorate’s directly employed labour force in painting empty properties to make them more desirable to let.
how did we help?
A partner to help improve its 23,000 properties by delivering a combined cyclical interior and exterior painting programme. The work consists of painting a variety of homes, including high rise, low rise and sheltered accommodation schemes, and assisting the directorate’s directly employed labour force in painting empty properties to make them more desirable to let. We’ve enabled maximum efficiency and resourcefulness for our customer by combining interior works programmes with exterior. We focus on exterior painting from March to December, and concentrate our resources on interior painting programmes between December and March. We’ve helped tenants by improving communication and the scheduling of work. We’ve helped the community by providing ‘on the job’ training for unemployed adults through our partnership with Future Skills Dudley, too.

Dudley Council receives a service that doesn’t peak or trough, as we’re working to defined annual programmes of work. What’s more, tenants benefit from improved scheduling and a better consultation process. Both MITIE and Dudley Council wished to commit to shared office accommodation, and the success of delivering our service from a joint working environment has justified our client’s decision to invest in similar shared arrangements on all of its other partnering contracts. Even better, our work won a ‘very highly commended’ award from the Painting & Decorating Association, which speaks volumes about what we do.
